Comet C/2014 S2 (PANSTARRS) is currently close to Polaris and the north celestial pole. Maik Meyer reported that the comet was at magnitude 10.4 on October 2, 2015. Comet C/2014 S2 (PanSTARRS) was discovered on September 22, 2014 at magnitude 20.9 with Pan-STARRS 1 survey telescope at Haleakala in Hawaii. The comet passes perihelion on December 9, 2015 with perihelion distance of 2.101 AU when it is expected to reach peak brightness.
